What to Blame: Is it users of SEO programs or is it Search Engines?

I confess. Prior to hearing about SEO software and website marketing industry, I was of the opinion that Google was cool. I Used Google to look for anything from friends, to images, to current events to weird objects and naively trusted the findings. Then I heard about SEO apps and an emerging industry centered on website marketing, and my convictions changed. But even before that, after doing some reflective reading, I got a hunch that search engines, Google to boot, know far from everything, and share with the users even less than what they know.

My Google experiences soon convinced me that Flikr is a higher quality image search source, that with the help of social bookmarking tools I can have quality news coverage without the need to rummage through Google search retrieval (rummaging seems more fitting than Google search), and people search is better administered by Facebook. It seems that every time I search for strange objects on Google, the results are often inaccurate, to put it mildly. Try searching for SEO programs and other SEO connected subjects on Google and you are just about prepared to surrender your patience. I mean, come on, what’s the connection between SEO applications and online education websites or online casinos? Thanfully, in my distress.

So when news of seo management software and the entire field revolving around it entered my humble worldview, my qualms about things appearing on page one of Google increased manifold. Do they merit to show up on there and who is to blame, Google or webmasters using SEO apps. The moral quandary is vast. Do I stop using my SEO keyword ranking tool or do I quit using Google instead? I decided that I can’t turn away from Google just yet. At least not until the worthy rival enters the market. For now I will keep juggling between Blekko, Google and the above methods to complement the SERP mess that Google is. And, oh,yes, I will continue playing with my SEO software.

Truth is that SEO software is the reason why people like myself get discovered online. smart as they are, search engine search algos are unlikely to find some no-name person and index his webpage highly. In this regard, I am a firm believer in SEO programs and organic search. If it was all about the paid search, the Fortune giants would destroy me before I knew it. And there are 1000 companies on the Fortune roll! But here is something else that annoys me and other backlink check users, I am certain. There are people who buy SEO applications and use them to sell dresseson employment sites and the like. What we have is junk that not only lives on the Internet but is also highly positioned by search engines.

What is the user reaction to this? They Google SEO tool reviews and will instead find irrelevant SERPs. They get disenchanted. So much for the “Internet equality”. Does this imply that SEO program and service field is harmful? I don’t think so.

The unethical users of SEO products need to stop corrupting the Net but it’s like asking hackers to stop hacking. The unfortunate thing about it is that black hat SEOs are abusing the prospect to be noticeable on the Net that is offered to the no-name guy like me. For now users just have to tolerate them. We can only hope that Google will put more effort into finding the schemers abusing SEO products, and if Google doesn’t, the future search engine will.
